  • I want to take a silks class, but I'm scared. Is it safe?"
Practicing Aerial Arts is a dangerous activity. Just like any other physical activity, there are risks. At Studio7 Dance we take safety very seriously. All equipment has been rigged by a professional. All tricks will be learned and practiced at groumd level before we actually take it in the air. There will always be a mat underneath the equipment. A teacher is always there to spot you if needed. No one is allowed on the silks unless an instructor is present. We also ask that you communicate with your teacher. If you don't feel safe or confident with a trick, please speak up! If you have any questions, please speak up!
  • I want to take a silks class, but I have no upper body strength. Is that okay?"
Of course you can! You actually develop upper body strength by taking aerial classes. Many new students start off with very little upper body strength. You'll start off with easy moves that don't require a lot of strength and then as you develop strength you'll be able to learn harder skills and tricks. Don't be intimidated, come try a class and you might be surprised at your own strength!
  • What should I wear?
Please wear form fitting athletic clothing - something that will stay in place when you hang upside down. We strongly reccomend clothing that covers your waist, ribcage, inner thighs, and back of knees. No loose or baggy clothing. No sweatpants or t-shirts. If you wear shorts, please wear dance tights underneath them. No shoes, aerial classes will be taken barefoot. Hair should be neatly pulled away from face. No jewelry, belts, zippers, sequins, rhinestone, or anything else that can snag the fabrics and tear it. It is a safety protocol for both you and our equipment. Do not put on any oils or lotions before class. It makes your grip more challenging and is a safety hazard when it gets on the equipment.
  • How do I sign up and pay for classes?
You will be able to sign up and pay for classes through our online portal. The online portal will be up on July 20th.
  • Is there an age limit?
Anyone ages 8 and up are welcome to take aerial classes.
  • Am I allowed to take pictures and videos?
Of course! We just ask that you keep your phones on silent and in your dance bag until your instructor says its okay to bring the phones out. We'd also love it if you'd tag us on social media!
  • Can family and friends come to watch?
Of course! Family and friends may either watch through the observation windows or on the tvs in the lobby. We also have something called "parent watch week" at our studio where once a month we allow parents and family members to come observe in the classroom.
  • I'm a guy. Are aerial classes just for girls?
No, definitely not. Silks are for everyone!
